Ch.1 The long-long-and unexpected journey to Newbark
December 24, 1882
Snowyshore Cottage (Now Snowpoint City)
"Greetings kin, a fine Christmas eve is upon us.", said the man.
"Ah yes sir, we should be thankful for the wonderful snow. I am quite jovial that I was able to pinpoint your cottage‘s location. You must understand that I traveled here by Pidgeot and it was very rough."
"Well you know how I indeed enjoy my space and the happy warmth of my home. No one that I know of lives any closer than the land of flowers south of here. I have been studying the characteristics of those strange creatures running around. They are very unique."
"Hmm, how so?"
"Well, it appears that many of them can change their form after some requirement I have not yet discovered. I wish to witness this wonder, but none will come near me except this peculiar one. I have attempted to create a mineral that will react in an evolution like manner, but all attempts have failed..."
The visitor was astonished at the short creature before him. It appeared to be barely over two feet tall and it resembled a pointed round black ball. It also had yellow fir covering its crown that looked like a pointy hat descending to its small round arms. It had blue eyes, a wide grin, and three orange diamond shaped marks on its back forming a triangle. "How very strange. Have you had any success in making a new evolution mineral creation?"
"Well actually yes." The man held up a light blue stone that sparkled that of the creature’s eyes. " This is my most recent creation. It activates when extreme emotion is placed upon a Pokemon. So if a Pokemon becomes extremely joyous, or perhaps even furious it should evolve. The problem is that the Pokemon has not reached these emotional levels as of yet, so I can not test it."
"Oh well, I presume some things were meant to stay secrets.."
"Yes I suppose.” The man’s eyes shifted to the floor as he sighed. Either way what is it that you wished to inform me of? You know I prefer my privacy on Christmas.", said the man sternly.
"Sir I have come to inform you that something terrible is taking place. The colony leaders and myself are helpless of the situation and you may be our only hope.”
The man’s brow raised in curiosity. “Interesting, what is this tragedy?”
“Sir, that is the problem. We are utterly baffled. Our colonies are disappearing and rapidly..”
“What!? But how!”
“We have lost contact to three of our eight colonies. I was sent to look into the matter and ventured to one of the missing colonies headquarters. What I found there..was simply horrific.” The man shuffled his feet nervously cringing at the memory he was about to reveal. “Everyone had vanished. It all seemed unreal that everything was still in place, nothing destroyed at all.”
“Then what is it? They may have journeyed back to our homeland.”
“No sir. I wish I could believe that. My story continues. I had almost left the site when I glanced at a strange black liquid slowly flowing from a back room. It seemed suspicious so I investigated. I creaked open the door and there in the corner of the room was that colonies commander.”
“Why did he not tell you of the reasoning for his men’s disappearance?”
“He was lying in the corner, shacking violently. His eyes were rolled to the back of his head and he was immersed in the black fluid. The liquid was dripping from all the walls and gashes possibly from a knife were scattered throughout the room as well.”
“Dear God..” The man shuttered and stared in awe at his visitor.
“Sir, We have concluded that this may have been caused by one of the strange creatures. You study them so intensely that we hoped you may be able to shed light on our problem.”
“I…” The man appeared stunned.
“Well sir, the commander was muttering something repeatedly. He would not stop saying, We are here..it is ours.”
The man’s eyes grew wide as sheer terror wiped across his face. “It all makes sense now..”
“What makes sense? Sir? Sir! What makes sense!”
The candles in the cottage all blew out. The air suddenly felt heavy as the man and his visitor were gasping for breath. The man looked at the small creature and was horrified to see it start to turn blue. He grabbed a small square machine he had created and placed it on the creatue. As he did this he shoved the blue stone up the yellow hat like fur it had on its head and it suddenly vanished into the square machine. He chucked it out of his window as far as he could hope it would be safe. The square machine fell in the water outside his cottage with a loud PLUNK. Just then he noticed his visitor was gone. He was starting to choke and was being pushed to the ground. He could no longer hold on, it was as if his soul was being ripped out of him. Under his breath he croaked his last words.
“God help us all..”
He then slowly peered up and gazed into a pair of eyes hovering above him. It was the last thing he ever saw...
